The easiest and quickest way to make beef haleem

Haleem is one of the Pakistani dishes which everyone loves. Here is the easy and quickest way to make beef haleem.

Beef haleem is a traditional dish from Pakistan, made with wheat, lentils, and beef. It is usually cooked slowly over a low flame for several hours to get the desired texture and flavor. The dish is usually garnished with fried onions, mint leaves, coriander leaves, and lemon juice. Beef haleem is popularly served during Ramadan as it provides a great source of energy due to its high protein content. It can also be served as an appetizer or main course in many restaurants and households across India and Pakistan.

Ingredients;

  1. 1) 1 Kg Boneless Beef with 1 or 2 bones and Fat chunks

(you can also use chicken and mutton of the same amount as per your wish )

2) 1 cup cooking oil

3) 1 tablespoon garlic paste

4) 1 tablespoon ginger paste

5) 3 Large Size onions sliced

For Haleem masala;

3(1 inch) pieces Cinnamon

3 tsp Fennel seeds

12 Cloves

10 Green Cardamom

3 tsp white cumin

6 tbs whole Coriander

Dry roast for 1 minute and then grind to make powder.

Then add all these ingredients to the above powder

2-3 tsp red chili powder

3-4 tsp Kashmiri red chili

According to taste

2 tsp Turmeric

1.5 tsp Black pepper

2 tbs Dried Ginger powder

1.5 tsp garlic powder (optional )

Salt 4 tsp

Use 6 tablespoons of haleem masala prepared

½ cup split bengal gram (chana daal)

3/4 cup barley

1 and half cup wheat

Soak them overnight

3tbs Chickpea lentil(channa daal)

3tbs pink lentils (masoor daal)

3tbs split green gram (moong daal)

3tbs white lentil (Mash ki Daal ya Urad Daal)

3 Tbs rice

Soak all these lentils and rice overnight

Boil all these lentils and Wheat plus barley with 1 tsp turmeric..skip salt…

1/2 cup cooking oil

For Garnishing;

Serve Haleem with fried onions, chopped coriander leaves, chopped mint leaves, chopped green chilies, ginger, lemons, garam masala, and chaat masala.

Method;

  1. Wash the barley and whole wheat nicely, after that soak them in water for the whole night, also add baking soda to the same bowl.
  1.  Now add all the lentils and rice (the same quantity which I tell you in the ingredients list) in a separate bowl. Soak them for the whole night in water.
  1. Now let’s make haleem masala first before cooking;

                         3 (1 inch) pieces Cinnamon, 3 tsp Fennel seeds, 12 Cloves, 10 Green                          Cardamom, 3 tsp white cumin, 6tbs whole Coriander

  Dry roast for 1 minute and then grind to make powder.

Now add the following ingredients into the above powder which you just have make,

2-3 tsp red chili powder, 3-4 tsp Kashmiri red chili (According to taste), 2 tsp Turmeric, 1.5 tsp Black pepper, 2 tsp Dried Ginger powder, 1.5 tsp garlic powder (optional ), Salt 4 tsp.

  1. Now let’s make Haleem

Heat  1 cup oil and add 2 sliced onions, fry it until it becomes golden. After that add 1 Kg Boneless Beef with 1 or 2 bones and Fat chunks in the onions, after that add ginger and garlic paste. Then add 6 to 7 tsp of haleem powder which we made before,

  1. Now add 10 glasses of water to the pot, then boil in the pressure cooker for 40 to 50 minutes.
  2. Now add all the lentils, wheat, and barley in another pot, Add 1 liter of water or as pre-required and 1 tsp of turmeric powder and boil all the lentils, wheat, and barley until it becomes soft. In the end, add salt according to your taste in this.
  3. Now come back to meat, take off the meat from the pot, shred it, and discard the bones.
  4. Now mix all the lentils, wheat, shredded meat, and barley together and blend it well. 
  5. Cook it for 10 to 15 minutes on low flame (remember to keep mixing it with a big spoon because its base can be burned)
  6.  Your haleem is ready to eat, Garnish it with fried onions, ginger, lemon juice, mint, and coriander leaves. Serve it with naans.
